I'm sunburnt and my voice is hoarse.

Results of a ROCKIN' TPJC orientation!!!!!

Many things have happened in the orientation so I won't go into much detail. If I do, I'll take forever to finish this post....

I'm in OG (orientation group) 40 which is part of the damn zai BLACKBEARD family!

Our theme is pirates and there are 6 different families. They are Captain Morgan, Captain Hook (aka Hookers), Davy Jones (sotong?), Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and Blackbeard!

Orientation was 3 days long with the dry games on day 1 and wet games on day 3.

Day 1:
Assembled in the hall and got to know some people in the early morn.

There was a lot of admin stuff to do and they OGLs (great people, by the way) had to give out our orientation packages. I like our orientation tee which is a dry fit tee with the word pirates and a skull wearing a hat and has 2 daggers on the back. The tee is just classic black and white.

The principal also gave a talk. Apparently, she was the ex-principal of CHIJ St. Nicholas and this is her first year in TPJ as well. I have to say, she is the most different principal I've ever met.

In the end, we spent quite some time in the hall with all the admin stuff. Our OGLs took the opportunity to teach us some cheers since we were done with most of the admin work.

My favourite cheer has to be the hokkien cheer. I'm also proud to say that Blackbeard won the cutest cheer award (for our hokkien cheer)!

This is how it goes:

Wah nang si orh ah!
Si beh orh ah!
Wah nang wu qiu ah!
Si beh long ah!
Si mi nang?
BLACKBEARD
Si mi nang?
BLACKBEARD
Zai bo?
Zai ah!
Zai bo?
Zai ah!
Zai bo?
DAMN ZAI!

SCREAM*

hehe. After our break, we had our dry games which I won't elaborate on.

Later in the day, we were told that we had to put up a performance during our OG night on day 3. I volunteered to be part of the performers and was later part of the dance segment.

Day 2:
We were told that it was going to be a boring day with more talks as we had to know more about subjects to choose..

Well, it really wasn't that boring.

They gave talks on Theatre Studies and Drama and it got my interest so I decided to apply for TSD. There was also a talk on China Studies which can be taken in English. I was a little interested but I decided not to take it in the end.

We later got to learn our mass dance. This was the highlight of the day.

It was really fun having to learn the mass dance.

There are 3 dances including one couple dance. I think the couple dance is the hardest to learn but it's really cool. My favourite is the Shy Guy one (a dance where we dance to the song Shy Guy) because I think it's really cute. :)

Another activity we had was when Power 98 came down for a school visit. The 2 DJs told us about their shows and talked to us about working in the media industry (esp. the radio one).

Day 3:

The day of the wet games.

My goodness.

At the start of the wet games, it wasn't too bad. All we got were water bombs. But later, we ended up having to roll in a mixture of flour, starch, egg and ketchup. Disgusting. But we all did it in the name of fun and grossness i guess. Since we were all so dirty, we didn't mind the next challenge which was to roll in mud for points. We rolled twice (double points) and got all muddy and smelly.

After the stations, there was the WATER WARS where we pit the families against one another. Jack Sparrow allianced with my family and we formed the BLACKJACK family. Captain Hook (HOOKERS) were supposed to alliance with us but they betrayed us and allianced with Cpt Morgan and the other 2 families. So in the end, it was 4 families versus 2. But we still all played for fun.

After all the chaos, everyone went to the toilets to clean ourselves. The toilet smelled of mud and crap after that. In fact, I wasn't able to wash off the mud completely. After we were dismissed, my friends and I stayed back and bathed in school as we had to remain behind to practice for our performance that night.

Our OG night started at 5.30pm with the starting of the campfire. Not long after that, it was our family's turn to perform as we were to first.

I have to say that we didn't screw up. yay.

The OG night was totally rockin'. There were many challenges and performances. There was also moshing as the last activity.

This explains why my voice is gone. Or was gone since my throat is better now...
