Today's post will be about my thoughts on SAJC.

I am supposed to be doing my GP homework now or some form of revision but this blog post has been swimming in my head so I decided that I had to type it out. I just need to release my thoughts. My mind is getting too crammed up with Economics theories and Literature. Sigh.

Anyway, I think it's about time I tell you what think of SA.

Food:

SA has pretty good food compared to TK and TPJC. The caf (SA slang for "canteen") serves quite a wide range of food. Quite unhealthy food too. For example, there is food like Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee and Ramly Burger to satiate us hungry Saints. But I'm not complaining about the "unhealthy" food. However, the food is slightly more expensive than the food in TPJC and the drinks are pricey too ($1.20 for Teh Peng).

The cafe next to Popular sells nice ice blended drinks. All priced at $1.20 too if I am not wrong. I have yet to try the cakes there but their ice cream is quite good.

Lessons:

Overall, I think the lessons are okay. Nothing much to rave about. But they really don't spoonfeed in JC. And TK used to spoonfeed A LOT. So I have to get used to finding my spoon and feeding myself. The best tutor I have is definitely Mr Nah (Econs). He's arguably the best tutor in the whole school. GP accelerated programme seems more interesting and active as compared to the mainstream class. Other than that, the spoons are for me to find.

People:

The people in SA are different from those in TP. In SA, they are nice, friendly and amiable. But they are definitely different from TP people. Maybe TP people are more approachable? I can't pin point it. But I do know one thing for sure. 07A03 (PAE) peeps are wackier than SA people. But I think that's because they are TSD students. Only TSD students (in arts fac) can be that wacky. I think that's why some people in my class think I'm crazy. Especially when I'm having my bouts of hyper energy.

Oh. SA people are also a bunch of slackers. I think there is only one mugger in my class and 24 other procrastinators (there are 25 people in my class. I'm not that mugger I speak of).

Culture:

In TP, I got the culture which TP was reputed to be- slack. However, I'd like to say that TP is trying to change this image so don't go on thinking that TP is slack. I think they only really started on a "mugging" culture approach after I left..

I think SA has more school spirit than TP though. I think it's because of sports. Like everyone would watch the important matches and cheer for SA.

However, I think it's quite obvious that in SA, they favour the science fac people. I got this feeling during orientation when there was the subject talk. They seemed to address the science fac people more. And my feeling deepened when the career talks catered to science fac people more. Thank goodness they split the houses by faculty so the whole of ROMANIS is an Arts Fac house. This way, the arts fac spirit can shine during events! Like today's sports day! And thank goodness arts fac people are (based on stereotypes) generally louder, wackier and basically, more fun.

Overall:

Let's be honest. SAJC is just a brand school. They do not get exceptional A level results. This leaves me quite discouraged since I could have gone to another JC which has a better track record of the A level results (like ACJC). But then again, it's always up to the person to mug hard or not.

I think SAJC is ok. I generally don't look forward to school (whether it is TPJC, TK or SA). But I do like SAJC. I like slacking at the gallery. I like sitting in the library to do my homework or simply stone. I like to play computer games in the computer labs (which are open throughout the school day for free use unless the labs are occupied by classes). I like watching SA trash some other JC in rugby. I like wearing the SA uniform. And I like arts fac.

But then, I'm still regretting a little about going to JC instead of Poly.

And, as it turns out, 07A06 isn't as bonded as I like it to be. Little cracks are showing. But not everything can be perfect, can it? Anyway, the little cracks are minor cracks. The wall isn't gonna fall anytime soon.

blah.
