So yeah, I watched Iron Man yesterday with dad and my second sis. And as I said, it was good - funny and action packed. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
I can't wait for next week - SA versus ACS I rugby finals, SA versus VJ soccer girls finals and Vesak weekend!
I'm glad that the school administration decided to let us J2s off early to go down to the Padang to support our rugby team. It
is our last year in SA after all; and we can't leave without witnessing the finals of the rugby season (which we did not qualify for last year). SA has a rugby culture after all... rugby being one of the core ccas. I go to the matches for the excitement though. Rugby matches are quite fun to watch.
The Vesak weekend was intended to be spent at a kelong in Malaysia. However, we scrapped the idea after my sis found out that the kelong had communal sleeping arrangements - something my mother will freak out at (although the rest of us don't mind it at all). And my family really doesn't want to have to withstand my mother's complaints. It's not exactly the best or most enjoyable thing.
So my sister made other plans and now, we are spending Vesak day on a private yacht that she rented. I think we'll be going out to sea to fish? Or island hop? Either way, it is an outing for my dad. An outing where we can relax together as a family and where my dad can fish (because he likes it). We intended to go this June, but my sister says that my dad's next chemotherapy appointment is coming up and considering he suffered for more than a month after his first chemo session, we shouldn't push this outing to after May.
I find it quite upsetting though - that my family is only coming together for a vacation because of my dad's condition. My sister commented the other day that my family has never gone overseas together; even if we did, it was probably at least 10 years ago when all of us were young and free. Now, my sisters are all grown up and everyone is busy working.
I think that a family should find time for each other and not wait for something so drastic before they find an excuse to spend time together. My family isn't so bad - we have dinners together often enough. But I still feel that time spent with family is not time wasted and time spent with family should take precedence; people should block out time to be with their loved ones before they regret it.
Family dinners are good but vacations would be better wouldn't it? Personally, I feel that I can fully throw my cares away when I'm out of the country because in other countries, there is nothing to remind me of work or whatever. I think that when people are
that relaxed, they can spend more value time with each other. And being overseas is more fun anyway - that's the charm in vacations.

Speaking of being relaxed, I spent a very relaxing time at Clarke Quay all afternoon. I met with Joanne Quek, Alina and Pris Goh to do our Lit presentation. But, as you might expect, we ended up digressing like mad and completed really little.
First, Pris Goh needed to eat so we went to Pepper Lunch and she ate there while we started our discussion. After that, we decided that we wanted to eat some Chippy's so we shifted there. And since they had tables, we did the rest of our discussion there. After eating, we realised that we were gonna stink because the whole basement in Central Mall was just filled with food stalls. So we went to the riverside and tried to discuss there.
BUT.
The wind was soooo nice. The weather was sooooo fantastic. The river was sooooo murky. But there were boats passing with tourists (who we waved at). The reverse bungee ride was sooooo entertaining - or at least the screams were. The cosplayers were sooooo weird and after they left, the riverside was soooo peaceful.
And so, we didn't complete much.
After Pris Goh and Alina left, Jo and I went to eat Pepper Lunch for dinner (paradox XD but yeah, it's all Pris' fault). After dinner, we decided that we wanted to go to Plaza Singapura to walk around in The Cathay. Then we decided that we would
walk to The Cathay (to digest our food).
So we walked to the opposite side of Clarke Quay where the bars and restaurants are located. I kept asking Quek if she wanted any drinks everytime we passed a bar, since I'm 18...
After reaching The Cathay, we entered, window-shopped and did more window shopping at PS before going home. We made LOTS of excuses for us to stay there to look at stuff.
But work is waiting and we couldn't wait any longer. (before we totally nuclear bomb our H1 paper on Monday)
