I've found a new luxury item to own....
A yacht! XD
The yachting trip today really made me feel like I want to get a personal yacht when I'm older. So that I can take weekend trips to the southern islands where the beaches are way better than those on Sentosa. Sentosa has crowded beaches where the odds of getting hit by a volleyball is higher than finding a seashell.
So we set off for the yacht at Onedegree 15 at Sentosa Cove. The yacht wasn't one of those gimungous boats with 3 tiers and air-conditioned luxury cabins. It was a nice medium sized and cozy boat with wooden finish. It's 20 years old, if I am not mistaken, so it's got attitude as well. XD
I felt quite queasy in the beginning because after leaving the pier, we stopped somewhere to fish. The boat, being stationary, rocked a lot. I really wanted to puke at some points. But it was very peaceful and calm. The weather was FANTASTIC - sunny and windy.
The highlight of today was really the
swimming. The boat stopped about 100 to 200 odd metres from a really beautiful beach at Lazarus Island (I think). My sis and I swam from the boat to the island and back to the boat. The water was simply refreshing. It was cool and impossibly deep... not to mention terribly salty. I had saltwater up my nose three times during the swim. But the swim was GREAT; the whole sunburn thing my mum was complaining about was totally worth it.
Another highlight was when the boat was cruising along Sentosa. It went pass the three beaches there and I tried waving at the beach-goers but I don't think they can see me anyway. I spent my time (as the boat was cruising) on the front deck where there was shade and a really cool wind. On top of that, I was alone to enjoy the tranquility and to hear the waves beating against the boat. And to see oncoming waves from other boats. By this time, I had gotten over the seasickness. So I really enjoyed the ride to the fullest :)
I had 2 songs taking turns to play in my head during the boat trip. The first is
Dreamworld by Rilo Kiley and the second is
Beautiful Ones by Suede. During the latter part of the trip, I spent time alone on the upper deck listening to
Dreamworld as I watched an eagle soar over St. John's Island.
I think the trip really let us enjoy, bond, and to leave our cares behind just for one day. I didn't even think about anything pertaining to Literature!
Yup...
Photos will be in....as soon as my sister uploads them! XD
